Ajmal Roshan

Backend & DevOps Engineer

Builds the software a university runs on, then keeps it running.

Admissions for ten thousand applicants a year, hostel seats for three thousand students, and the bill for every meal in between.

I like owning a system end to end: modelling the data, writing the API, putting it behind a load balancer, and being the one who gets paged when it breaks. Most of what I have built started as a paper process at Cochin University of Science and Technology and ended as software that departments now depend on.

The admissions platform replaced forms across more than eight departments. Hostel seats are allotted by a location-priority algorithm instead of a spreadsheet. The mess bills itself at the end of every month. Most of it is Django behind Nginx, on PostgreSQL or SQLite, shipped in Docker containers.

I am completing a B.Tech, Electronics & Communication at CUSAT (2026) and work on native iOS apps at Lascade Co. I am open to backend, platform and DevOps roles.

University-wide admission system for the five-year integrated MSc programmes. Replaced paper workflows across more than eight departments.

3k+ students

Hostel Allotment System

Automated hostel seat allocation driven by a location-priority algorithm, with live dashboards for wardens and administrators.

2k+ active users

Messy — Mess Management

Meal attendance tracking and automated monthly bill generation for hostel food services, scaled across multiple hostels.

200+ concurrent users

Sargam Fest Platform

Registration and event management for the university cultural festival, load-balanced behind Nginx for peak-hour traffic.

Experience

Jan 2025 – Present

App Developer, Lascade Co

  • Shipped and optimised two iOS apps with real-time analytics and BI tooling.
  • Reduced load and network cost by reworking caching and replacing API polling.

May 2023 – Aug 2023

Full Stack Engineer, Intern, Lamsta

  • Built the frontend of an event-management platform, turning Figma designs into reusable production components.
